Upper Little Colorado River Land Trust

The Upper Little Colorado River Land Trust is formed for the following purposes:

  1. to protect the conservation values of the Upper Little Colorado River riparian ecosystems, including, but not limited to, Nutrioso Creek, and adjacent or essential range lands, through the restoration, enhancement, and preservation of wetlands, grasslands, open spaces, native habitat, and natural resources, including riparian dependent fish and wildlife, for the benefit of present and future generations;

  2. to preserve open space for the scenic enjoyment of the general public;

  3. to acquire by gift, devise, purchase or otherwise real or personal property of all kinds, without limitation as to amount or value, and the rights to property, including fee interests and conservation easements, and to use such property and rights in such a manner as the Board of Directors of the corporation deems appropriate to carry out the purposes set forth herein and subject to the limitations set forth herein;

  4. to educate the general public regarding the restoration, enhancement, preservation, and protection of riparian ecosystems
    comprising and encompassing wetlands, grasslands, open spaces,
    wildlife habitat, and natural resources;

  5.  to engage in other activities directly or indirectly related to, or which may assist in the accomplishment of, such purposes.

    The Upper Little Colorado River Land Trust will, in part, accept donations of real property, conservation easements, water rights, and equipment that will contribute to the protection of conservation values of the Upper Little Colorado River riparian ecosystem, including Nutrioso Creek, one of the last perennial streams in Apache County, Arizona. The organization will solicit such donations from landowners in the area of the Upper Little Colorado River, and solicit government and private organization grants. Donations and grants will be used to preserve the conservation values of the Upper Little Colorado River riparian ecosystems, including Nutrioso Creek, and adjacent or essential range lands, through the restoration, enhancement, and preservation of wetlands, grasslands, open spaces, native habitat, and natural resources, including riparian dependent fish and wildlife, for the benefit of present and future generations.

    The IRS has determined the Upper Little Colorado River Land Trust (ULCRLT) is exempt from Federal income tax under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to the ULCRLT are deductible under section 170 of the Code. The ULCRLT is also qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts under section 2005, 2106 or 2522 of the Code. The IRS has determined the ULCRLT is a public charity under the Code sections 170 (b) 1) (A) (vi). The effective date of exemption is September 19, 2009.
